Manuel Visser, a young Dutch-born viola player, graduated with Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the Amsterdam Conservatoire. There he studied initially with Michael Gieler and latterly with Jürgen Kussmaul and also during this time with Garth Knox in Paris. Manuel Visser continued his 'post-graduate' study at the 'Mozarteum' University in Salzburg with Prof. Peter Langgartner. He has taken part in masterclasses given by Nobuko Imai, Thomas Riebl, Ervin Schiffer, Asdis Valdimarsdottir and Hartmut Rohde. Manuel Visser was a prizewinner at the International Viola Competition in Slovenia in 2000 and 2003. The composers James Fulgerson, Walter Hekster and Matthias Kadar have written for Manuel and he has recorded for Ottavo, New World Records, Karnatic Lab and Naxos labels. Currently Manuel Visser is enjoying an active career as a soloist and chamber music musician. As viola player he is a member of the 'the Bardac harptrio' (with flute and harp), ensemble 'De Beztting Speelt' and ensemble SCALA. Manuel Visser performs also regularly with the 'Ives-ensemble', 'Anima Eterna' and Luxemburg-based ensemble 'Lucilin' as guest. As soloist he has performed with 'Vocal Ensemble Frascati', the 'Purcell Chamber Orchestra' and with the 'Hilversumse Orkest Vereniging'. Recent engagements included performing Mozarts' 'Sinfonia Concertante' with the Flevoland Symphony Orchestra and the Bruch 'Romanze' with orchestra La Pellegrina, Chamberorchestra Trajectum in the Netherlands and 'Sinfonietta' St. Johann in Austria. Manuel Visser plays on a Giovanni Tononi viola (1690, Bologna). Opnames verzorgde hij voor het label Ottavo, New World Records Karnatic Lab Records en Naxos. Manuel Visser is momenteel actief als solist en kamermusicus. Hij is de altviolist van het ‘Bardac Harptrio’ (met dwarsfluit en harp), ensemble ' De Bezetting Speelt' and ensemble SCALA . Tevens is hij gastaltviolist bij het Ives-ensemble, 'Anima Eterna' en het Luxemburgse ensemble ´Lucilin´. Als solist trad hij op met het 'Vocaal Ensemble Frascanti', de Hilversumse Orkest Vereniging' en met het Purcell Kamerorkest. Recente solistische optredens waren Mozarts' 'Sinfonia Concertante' met het Flevolands Symfonie Orkest en Bruchs' 'Romanze' met het orkest La Pellegrina, kamerorkest Trajectum en 'Sinfonietta' St. Johann in Oostenrijk.
